Band Blog --
August 15th
Welcome to the Accelerator
blog! We'll use this Blog to keep you guys in the know and
discuss any and all things Accelerator.
Earl Hall (former
guitarist) has moved to Vancouver BC. While we were saddened
by Earl's departure, we are also equally happy as this is
something they had planned for some time and were really
excited about. They are in a coastal community Earl
describers as eclectic with a really laid back pace of life.
They will be building their dream home out in the country in
coming months, settling in to the Great White North eh. We
will always love and miss them both *sniff* OK, that's the
first thing.
Secondly, our guitar
player Rick Armistead has recently undergone surgery to have
bone spurs removed from his rotator cup. 'The Rickster' is
healing very nicely, but it did put a wee bit of a damper on
our ability to play gigs this summer while he finishes
healing! :) We don't want our lead guitarist to rock
prematurely and impart permanent damage now do we? If y'all
were wondering why we haven't been playing any gigs in the
last few months, well wonder no more. Rick is now chomping
at the bit to get back in the rehearsal studio (sounds
better than my garage) and learn some new tunes. We have our
next gig coming up in October 3 at the Elks Lodge in
Arlington and we'll be PUMPED to get back out there and
entertain, so we hope you'll all be there.
We plan to add a posting
tool soon where you can drop us a request or comment. Use it
to tell us what songs you'd like us to learn, or what you
liked or didn't like about a gig you saw us at. We'd LOVE to
hear from you.
October 10th
We're back! for those of you
who joined us at the Oct 3 gig, thank-you for coming out! We
had a great night and a fun time was had by all. Rick's
shoulder has healed nicely and he's close to 100% again.
Mike is rapidly coming up to speed on our song list and we
are sounding better and better every day.
Folks, we are in a re-tooling
mode, learning a bunch of new songs. We've recently added a
few new songs to our lineup, and we're aggressively working
on some fun things like a WHO medley (who does the WHO
around here?), some originals, and other cool stuff. So stay
tuned as good things are coming for Accelerator.
We updated the website to
take credit for the length of time we've been playing
together. You see we've been together since 2004. Our
drummer Dale Linebarger just retired from AAFES (Army & Air
Force Exchange Service), after a long fulfilling career as
their CIO. Basically, he's traded in his cell phone anchor
for a pair of drums.
That's all for now.
Peace out
